Accounting Courses In Kenya Requirements

During the old age, accounting was a really difficult job, a knowledge in Mathematics will help you go far as an individual but with the introduction of various computer and information system lots of accountants jobs got a bit easier. There are lots of requirements to have in studying accounting in the University or college. It is required you pass the KCSE examination with a minimum grade of C- or the required subjects needed to pass to get into the University. You can either get an accounting Diploma or an accounting degree.  With an accounting diploma you can get jobs like book keeping, accounts clerks, accounts payable processor, administrative coordinator and administrative processor.

Before a studying a course like accounting you should know about the fees. To study ‘Accounting’ in Kenya it costs about Kes 18,811 to 56,548. It takes a period of about 1 year 6 months to get a diploma in accounting and it takes about four (4) years to study accounting in the University. Every school has its own fees so it’s necessary you send an email or make some findings about the school you wish to attend to know the cost of their tuition and every other fees involved. 

Is Accounting Course A Marketable Course In Kenya?

Aside from getting your academic papers it is necessary you have talent, companies no longer just look at academic papers and give you the job instantly anymore all because you have good grades, they always feel there is more you can offer. No one wish to spend money to study a course that is not marketable in the future. An Accounting job is a perfect fit; it is one of the few many courses that you can easily seek out a job after graduation. Accounting equips you with the right knowledge or skill which makes them to be competent and work under little or no supervision. 

Becoming An Accounting Major

As an accounting major, there are lots of things which are involved. Becoming an accounting major is not as easy as it looks, you will have to play roles like public speaking for some major companies and information systems. They learn how to create an information system and they audit finances of a business or an organization. Every school has different names for accounting majors and the kind of degrees they give to them. Accounting majors undergo several works to get to the top and they offer subjects like Foreign language, English, and Mathematics with classes like Calculus Statistics, and psychology, as they go further they take major courses like taxation, principles of microeconomics, and macroeconomics, computer-based systems, macro managements, business law, accounting audit. Knowing if you should go for an Accounting Major, you can easily tell especially if you have a likeness for mathematics, analyzing financial information and working on computer-based information systems. 

Accounting Majors should enjoy public speaking and they should be able to communicate their findings in front of their boss. They should be good with public speaking as they tend to work with public companies who might require them to give a full audit of the company and then talk about it with other board of directors. Even apart from studying this course in school, you will need to add to your personal development as a human and this will help in all area of your life. You should expect long hours of work and tax season, you should be honest when it comes to this job and it would really help if you were to follow the rules. 

We have the five basic principles of accounting which are the Historical cost Principle, Revenue Allocation principle, Full Disclosure Principle, Matching Principle, and Objectivity Principle. All of these are being used in the study of Accounting.
